About: The Soul Motivators are a True North phenomena, blending funk, soul, hip-hop breaks and psychedelic beat. Since 2012, this hard-hitting Toronto 9-piece has moved masses at TD Jazz, Beaches Jazz Festival, Canadian Music Week and NXNE.

Their authentic all-live show has seen them billed alongside Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Lee Fields, Bernie Worrell and The Slackers. Following their EP in 2013, they released debut album ‘Free to Believe’ on Toronto’s Do Right Music in May 2015. The widespread critical acclaim lead to international airplay and appearances at Panamania – Toronto’s downtown celebrations for the 2015 Pan Am Games – TEDxToronto and numerous tour dates across Canada. Their unique sound was heard on programming for TV Ontario, CBC and various independent documentaries.

2017 kicked off with two vinyl releases on Detroit’s Funk Night Records, to more kudos from deep funk aficionados worldwide. In April they hit the stage with Do Right labelmates The Souljazz Orchestra for a special show celebrating 15 years of Do Right Music, before heading out on a spring tour which promises exclusive new tracks. Fans can expect more releases this year with writing and recording going from strength to strength.
